only this one is worthy.... just for fun..
I'm aware of the whole warez/l33t demo scene but where is the graphical part of the demo in this video? Is it just not shown? If so that's what makes it so silly when taken out of context.
make love to the canvas

oh no, that wasn't the demo. that was TALENT COMPETITION. lol... what a talent.. the dude was supposedly doing something on his laptop to unsuccessfully mix the tracks together.. i didn't even finish... and intel is there because of the sponsorship, of course. it sponsors most demo parties.
warez scene is different... it's same as mp3 scene, well, mp3 scene is a part of 0-day warez scene.. well, anyways, demo scene is not about getting shit fast, it's about making shit best. =) i was into this stuff in mid 90-s, made a few intros, then switched to ASCII, you probably seeen many oldschool ascii on warez nfos, all the thalion and 1king and other groups use either BLOCL or OLD SCHOOL ASCII on their nfos, well i was doing NEW SCHOOL ASCII, drawing with shading and anti-aliasing.. below is not the best example, and it should be stretched vertically more, but it gives the gist...
i made this.. back in, maybe, 97-98.. my group was SECULAR ASCII. some of the groups that were back then still exist.... archives of our work can be found on thuglife.org. funny thing, thuflige because, apparently. is because ascii/ansi scene was started by street-gang taggers...
ps. that girl does have a 1337 fucking tatoo on he fingers, so cool/. =)

9:37pm – Pauly attempts to scratch for the first (of many) times. Someplace, somewhere, DJ Shadow shudders and doesn’t know why.
9:38pm – Pauly drops a track that the support DJs just before him finished with. I do not profess to know its name, my knowledge of commercial ‘EDM’ admittedly (and proudly) limited. His status as some kind of idol for the frontally lobotomised is confirmed: the crowd explodes.
9:45pm – As the set carries on, Pauly raises what looks like a deformed limb (possibly an arm) and thrusts it upwards into the sky. He calls this a “fist pump” and demands the crowd perform it with him (they, of course, do). Its purpose is lost on me, but if I had to speculate, I would say it is some kind of movement designed to appeal to those who were not born with the ability to dance with their hips and legs.
The man is truly inspired
This made me laugh, its so ridiculous that it's meme-worthy
HAHAHAHAHA
WTF was that?
glad i didn-t pay to see that
=)))))))))). Nice equipment.
hahaha oh dear!!

Loved this times when demos really showed what good coders can get out of the machines. 486 with VGA with 512kB memory showing incredible things. I can still remember watching my first demo, Unreal from Future Crew! Great great great!
Or what C64-demos evolved to! Amazing!
Melodic, deep, sing-a-long.
So painful to watch.
Luver of DEEP, soul-pounding BEATS!!
Get Your Beats and Pound Me Deeper, Harder, Faster . . .
. . . Ohhh Yeah, that's the way I like it!!

The guy in the bottom right at 1:50 in the video is definitely into it! Hands in the air and jumping to the sky!

About DreamHack (from their facebook page)
DreamHack is the World's Largest Computer Festival. DreamHack's roots and core is the LAN party, with the major events DreamHack Summer and Winter, where participants bring their own computers and connect to the Internet in a large local area network which basically BECOMES the Internet by sheer scale. DreamHack is also Sweden's first consumer-oriented trade show / event / festival for computer games, game consoles and computers. The events are a platform for tournaments in eSports, knowledge and creative competitions, concerts by famous music artists, lectures by game developers and much more.
basically it's a DEMO party, or used to be a big demo party. now it's more of a gathering of geeks in sweden. they mostly play games there for like a week or two, in some huge stadium, all covered with computers and wiring. i tried to interest someone with this stuff before, but got no interest shown at all.. maybe now some? =) i used to be very into this, DEMOs are little or large programs that create all kinds of effects all in real time calculated and shown, you can see some 3d motion shit all fit in just 4KB if machine code, i.e. the little program takes only 4KB of hdd space. it's like 2 pages of text in a book.. and that - creates an underground 3d model that lets you travel through it... lots of these little demos were adapted as winamp graphical addons.
but there are competitions that allow people come and show off their code or graphics or music or whatever else they like (wild competition), and even win money sometimes.. back in the day some dudes existed off of that money, winning all parties all over the world.. i knew some. even took part back in russia... were fun times.. well.. this Dreamhack seems to be becoming more of a Starcraft competition outing, not a demo party... :(
anyways, as a little example of what's going on, and TRUST ME this source is free of any viruses or malware or anything, all very safe to download and run on your computer. just try it out. here's what DREAMHACK is really about (well, there're 2 versions, one in winter, another in summer):
https://www.scene.org/dir.php?dir=%2Fparties%2F2013%2Fdreamhack_summer13/
https://www.scene.org/dir.php?dir=%2Fparties%2F2013%2Fdreamhack_winter13/
links will open file-list like pages, where you find in folders the competition entries, and there's results file. i will even put graphics competition winner and audio winner for you to check out right here.. [10 minutes later] fuck it.. these kids ruined dreamhack.. anyways, if anyone is interested, there were other links in some other thread...
