I joined newly. Made a thread about it, Slash was the only user that replied (regularly) . I thought there'd be more activity on this site, it does have a lot of users, also a lot of active ones, what's the problem?

what's the problem?
this is the subject of this thread..
this question has been raised numerously before, and the most viable answer is.... facebook.. and twitter.. and other big sites with social aspect.. people socialize elsewhere, in places built for socializing.. plus direct downloads.. even that top100 sites do have at least 2-3 torrent sites, they are at the bottom of the 100, and thus there are way more people who don't even know of torrents.. etc.. eh... im tired..

The problem might lie in the possibility, to download so much torrents on this site, without giving anything in return. The last torrents I looked at, had mostly users marked with "likes to hit and run" , so that is a real problem. Maybe it would help, to rework the confirmation eMail, like putting a size 30 and red "READ THIS" in the beginning, because that's what would have made me read it. There was nothing standing out, so I just confirmed my eMail, and only accidentally found, that I must had made something wrong, and came back to this site, and I read the Rules and everything, because I am a user that has much time and does such things out of interest on the sites where he's active, but users that have less time must be pushed heavier towards this. Maybe send Hit and Runners an eMail, the adress must be right, and make them aware that they're doing the wrong thing again, inform them on the advantages of being active on this site, you have enough imo. Gathering points to make a reseed request, to get older torrents of DJs one collects for example is a big reason to participate. Maybe you should also limit the number of torrents a new user can download, and he first needs to fulfill the reseed, to download further torrents, I downloaded at least 100 without any problems, that's way too much, someone could be totally content with that amount of music, and just don't care for anymore.

eh... as i said, it's been discussed at length, and limitations only help people find their music elsewhere, and not return... all these hit-n-run messages are just a show.. anyone can download anything and as much as they want to. why limit?

a bit more needs to be said here.. it's also soundcloud's fault, and itunes', and youtube's and all other ways that djs are now able to pass their music to the listeners, - all these ways are at fault that tribalmixes is becoming less and less demanded.. except for those who feed off of here to re-post stuff on their sites later, and hardcore music lovers like there's a few hundred of us here, i would say... most people are happy to hear 2-3 hours of new music every week... i am unsettled if i hear less than like 8 hours of new beats daily.
bet there is alot like me here, ill come read the forums but tent not to post.
Most annoying thing of the site and only thing that puts me off is the width of the site ,too wide

Good point -- I've always wondered if I was the only one who noticed this. Now I keep this site zoomed out on Chrome to 90% and there is no more horizontal scrollbar. However, I'm not sure if that's the reason user activity is low.
make love to the canvas

Yes to the page width issue. I thought it was just me but... nope :)

Idk if this is a normal deviation, but yesterday I saw 50k of total seeds and only 6k not connectable. Today / currently, it's 45k of offered seeds to 8k of non-connectable. That's a major improvement, to when I registered on this site, then it were up to 13k of non-connectable. Hopefully a good sign .
The page-width btw. is really no problem. As mentioned, one can use CTRL + mousewheel to change the scaling, and 1080p displays, which are very common nowadays, shouldn't have any problems anyhow. The only problem this site has, is, that it uses totally uncommon smiley-codes, like : - ) instead of : ) .

Extra connectivity activity is a good thing. Shame they don't come into the forums.
Ah, that's why my smilies didn't work!
