3 propositions

olfrud Ruud on March 21st, 2007 / post 17340
hello

I've several proposition to mention.

1. It would be nice if you made some kind of mail notification for rating downloaded torrents. I like to rate them, but have slow internet connection and some sets are 2-3 months old after i download them so forget to rate them after enjoying them. That notification should be sent afte 24h (that's enough time to listen the mix)

2. The first grade should be made by the uploader.

3. Is it possible not to count into download capacity particular set if the download didn't progress over 10%? I like to download 8-9% just to hear the quality of set so if it's to bad, i'm not finishing it. Perhaps, you could make some kind of preview (let say 30-40sec of the set)...

1.There will be a notification system, but not mail notification, slash working on it
2.What you mean,I didn't understand?
3.Previews sounds good but it's impossible. This stuff will generate a lot of traffic, will take huge place on the web server space  and will increase rapidely the cost of web server rent

sorry, my English isn't the best... What I meant is, that the first rating should be given by the uploader...

The problem with the uploader rating is that its biased.Someone might rate it high because they like a certain artists and not necessarily on its quality. Ratings on this site don't work well since most people just give sets a 4 or a 5 and its very hard to distinguish the great sets from average sets solely on ratings. People need to be stricter on ratings and I think the rating should be out of 20 to allow a more accurate rating.

If you speak English here comments are the most helpful. Communicating what you thought of the set, artists or the tracks is far more useful than a number, wether it be out of 5 or 100. Personally I think if you could rate them as follows it would be more useful than it is now...

E = Excellent (best thing ive heard all week)
G = Good (no complaints about this one)
S = Satisfactory (OK, not the best)
H = Horrible (diarrhea is more pleasant than this crap)

Im surprised how serious people are about the ratings, Imagine if the commenting function broke lol...

EDIT: Ive just seen they've already done something like ive described ^^^
I guess it was a good idea, thx guys

it was the same before, just nobody noticed it because for em was easier to rate from the main and not from the torrent details page ;-)

only the REALLY downloaded amount is counted.. it's the own of bittorrent protocol that it doesn't download files continously, only pieces... finally you'll have the set, but while it downloads, you cannot listen to it. so technically it's impossible, only if the uploader would post some kind of sample inside the torrent.
olfrud Ruud on March 24th, 2007 / post 17451
Yes, I know, but it is possible to listen the set while downloading. When you dl some pieces (let say 6 pieces are 1% of the set), when you play the file in winamp, which is 1% downloaded, you just have to wait couple of sec and the downloaded piece (first) will start playing, after couple of sec the next piece and so on... That is what I'm doing to determine will I finish the set or not :)
