tm is now harder to browse

ganjamo megaleecher on July 14th, 2007 / post 20285
Whats up.

When the site wasnt java based or what ever is it now i could download X number of torrents by making new tabs or windows of each of the file i wanna grab. So now i cannot browse that way, i gotta open new windows every time and its kinda more time-consuming and not quite "smart".
If its possible to make the tab thing going on again it would be really great.
thanks

ganjamo

I do the same thing you are talking about. All you do is go to outlook menu and put back to the original style. This info I am giving you is all available to you. I read the main page news that Slash posted and followed the instructions. The torrents page is not gone as many are saying, just not in the same place. Look around and read and you will find what you are seeking.

Ive read now, but the main thing im having problems with is the usage of tabs.
I get an (Untitled) new window when i try to make a tab out of any TM link and i get this as address: javascript: ajaxdata_MAIN("/browse.php","&ajaxloader=1");

Hope it can get fixed
thanks

indeed ganjamo i agree, harder to browse and more time consuming

as all may know time is a rare thing nowadays. tab browsing is essential to save time.
another very timesaving util are the mouse-gestures.

since tm has turned to be an ajax-based-web-application no more mouse-gestures like
'open-link-in-new-background-tab' are working.

time needed to browse tm links is doubled

i can hardly keep calm here, but i will calmly ask you: what browser are you using? what sequence of buttons do you press to  'open-link-in-new-background-tab'  ??? and what are you agreeing there with? with ganjamo's  first post or his last post or the middle part??? did you notice by a chance, he pretty fast learned how to work with it?

just for the record, these are PROPERLY WORKING ways to open new tab or new window from a link

  • new TAB: put mouse over link, press CTRL + LEFT-BUTTON - works in firefox, ie, safari, netscape.

  • new WINDOW: put mouse over link, press SHIFT + LEFT-BUTTON - works in firefox, ie, safari, netscape.

  • new TAB or WINDOW: put mouse over link, press right RIGHT BUTTON, select from the context menu  - works in firefox, ie, safari, netscape.

  • new TAB or WINDOW: even if your mouse isn't working, you can use keys, such as context menu key, enter+ctrl etc...

  • i do not see Opera in here... may i guess you're using one?

my friend, please, give firefox a try, or maybe ie, safari or netscape, just for half-hour, you will see, that (maybe not the wheel yet, but..) new tabs and bookmarks and new windows opening is properly working, that is also including browser history buttons - they work fine in firefox, ie, safari, netscape.

i am terribly sorry, but there are some issues in opera, it doesn't want to recognize the js function... i'll be trying to solve this problem, and you can check other browsers, while it's onthewaytobeingsolved. thanks!

I use FF and the easier way to browse like i used to is: right click and then "T", its just one click more and you will get used to it pretty fast.
ctrl+left click is easier actually lol.
    thanks slash !!

    cheers

ok good, so can we rename this topic into "tm is now even easier to browse"? =)

anyways, i've thought of such a thing as "users watching torrents", like on ebay you can watch some auction go and stuff, and that would simply place links onto the screen, maybe below the control panel, or make a new tab on it just for these, and all links would be placed on there for easier access... it could save some extra tabs in your browser and would require less work for the website, as it will simply update where it needs to, simply doing same tabs but through the website's mechanics. would that work?
    ganjamo megaleecher on July 15th, 2007 / post 20316
    that would be great  :beer2:

 do i get a three day warning now?

    however
im using firefox since the very first version.
and i also use the extension 'al-in-one-gestures' since ages now, even tm wasnt born that time.

i very hope ur familiar with mouse-gestures, are you?

since tm turned into a cute web-application there aren't any links on the pages annymore, only javascript commands. thats okay i guess an app needs command-buttons, no links...
    this leads to the sad fact, that when i point my mouse over one of those 'pseudo-links' and execute the gesture (UP) for 'open-link-in-new-background-tab' a sweet unknow tab appears with the adress: javascript: ajaxdata_MAIN("/forums.php","action=viewtopic&topicid=3314&ajaxloader=1");
well, so a, here already mentioned, smart and timesaving browsing isn't possible annymore.

one has to use both hands for mouse and keyboard input.
time to execute this way: +200 to 400% compared to the old mouse gesture way.
(please keep in mind the usual web-surfer has no hand on the keyboard, only the mouse is used)

even more time consuming. just try to imagine how long it takes to reach the link via the TAB key ...

well i see gnajamo is very adaptive and uses the mouse plus key version. he also admitts that is one click more. haha just one click more that makes two = effort doubled!

    very evolving! isn't it?

    ur kidding are you?!

    but ur luky!
seems im the only one on tm using the most efficient way to browse websites ...
i dont want you to drop the nice ajax project just becaus of me.
not even because of other disadvantages or just because of the javascript security issues. but that is another case.
