Agree. Good call with Punk marking his tipping point, too.
I never really liked him, so maybe yeah he went down the drain, who knows, certainly not you Andy
La petite mort

His Essential Mix in 2004 was a perfect tipping point. The first hour is outstanding driving trance and then it all goes electroish weird shit.

still working on 004...too many to choose from..
Judge Jules, Dave Pearce (a thread and a half), Armin, Richie Hawtin among others.
What a real tossup this is going to be!

I remember something about them fighting while DJ'ing in Ibiza, falling into the turntables and cutting off the sound. Bye, soul . . .
Any links to that?

It will be a real great one next week but they will end up as 003 on greatest deejays of all time.
House Music lost soul when they parted....one went techno, one went otherwise and we lost house music like Morel, Sultan, Behrouz among others who made tracks for them.

i thought i replied here but no... anyways, very very true, i remember having heard aome of his live mixes and compilations from early days and kinda forgetting of him, having liked his style nevertheless, and then later when started tribalmixes in 2005 checking out his mixes, and yeah, being quite appalled by what i was hearing.. he's pretty much like Tiesto.. i noticed not many djs can pull off a complete change of style.. Paul Van Dyk could also be included in has beens, at least for me..

Paul van Dyk will be hard to introduce into the hasbeens....that man made soundtracks of my life but I will consider it. This thread is for opinions really...
Ferry had a similar style to Tiesto at one point. They were really good but then Ferry went more experimental and like Armin and PvD, they played electro parts of their sets which imo....took it off in a poor direction
I will say tho, he might be a hasbeen but he is one of the nicest people in EDM, always taking time to do things, even thought, he has little time.

In my eyes... Tiesto - has been no body... Van dyk was good but only because the genre - trance was good, absolute shite.. Armin - Yawn not interested was never into anyhting he played, Pearce is not a fu*in DJ , so don't waste your time Andy.... Jules well was a twat when he played a trumpet when he dj'e din the 90s and is an even bigger twat for the other year at Globlal gathering on the last night of the last hour played the most shite tunes, shouting come on Global gathering...he had not been dancing all weekend....so in my eyes he is a worthy candidate..
As far as Hawtin, well having recently heard him again, he doesn't come cloese to those pecker heads....hard techno.. can't beat that or as his alter ego plastikman.... get in!!!
I used to be a big fan of this guy. Shot Out of The Blue (was it?) was an immense track and I had an awseome remix of it somewhere.
I also have some really old Ferry sets from when he did indeed spin some proper quality Trance. One day I will upload to this site infact. His innercity set from 99 (I think) is a classic and the few times I've seen him live he rocked the club and seems like a really nice guy. But that was a long time ago.
I bought Ferry Corsten: Gatecrasher Sheffield - without realising the cunt had gone all electro-trance on us.
You utter git Corsten! That is £15 I want back from you personally!
These days he's recovered somewhat from that shitty electro-trance fad and plays better tunes, but he's also threatening to do a 'Tiesto' in my opinion and there's too much Trouse appearing in his sets.
I even heard an Episode of Corstens Countdown where he seemed to be playing dubstep, or at least some sort of dubstep-trance hybrid music.
He's becoming a cross between a poor mans's Tiesto and a poor mans's Paul Woolford!

Case and point his EM from 2004, the first hour was driving trance and the second hour was electro trance tripe
