Lol, each singer, DJ, band have their own directory...I have lots of subdirs with one track only..

My biggest folder is with Tiesto Discography, i burn his sets, the same I do with G&D's sets..

I have one main directory _Albumz and one Music
At Albumz I place all the sets and albums(from Lord of the Dance thru JES, Mark Norman to Barry White   ), while at Music i place single tracks, only Tiesto has its own separate directory...hehe

Years Folder. Then like tribalmixes: DJ/artist, title/show, date.
All months back-up on ext. hd.

I use transmission as the Torrent client. Once I click the button to DL the torrent, its automatically in the program, automatically downloading to my music folder. I use Amarok as my music player. It scans my music folder recursively and auto-updates whenever there is new music in my music folder. No need to organize anything.

Filname = DJ name - date (YYYY/MM/DD) place (whatever)

DJ Name - This puts all DJs in order (so you can find the type of music)

DATE - arranged by YEAR then MONTH then DAY so they end up in CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER (by time) within each DJ list...

PLACE ETC - The rest is just so YOU might remember Es Paradis, or Creamfields, or wherever

That way one folder for everything!! Simples!!

6 of 10... I need a break from this to do more important things... L8r :-/

I used to organize by date (by week). Then, I realized this system is pure shit for DJing as you can only remember the big hits or tracks you found in the last few months.

As such, I spent 9 months about 2 to 3 hours per day to reorganizing my entire (14,000 track) music collection into genres by year. I kept the genres generic and ones that have meaning to me as everyone has their own opinion of what Progressive or Tech house is.

For Example, I have the following folders:
Techy (includes tech, tech house, progressive, and alike)
Progy Trance (Trancy sounding tracks that are on the progressive side)
Trancy (more vocals, uplifting, and so on)
Cluby (hard banging club stuff)
D&B
Dubstep
Funky (anythin with a funky feel)
Breaks

Anyway, this has changed my life as now when I dj, I can go to any folder in any year and play songs that will work together even though I may not remember them. Genius!

BTW, don't feel bad, I did this all at work. LOL

I've been searching for a way to organize my 30000+ mp3 collection for a while. And yesterday I found this Beets, https://beets.radbox.org/ .

Haven't tried it yet but it seems interesting. Anyone know/use it?
