Commissarlightning Leopard on September 21st, 2006 / post 11028
well .. I'm not going to go through any details or compariosn .... it's so enough to say that Microsoft is just producing their new operating system (Windows Vista) with similar features to what we've got in Apple from 5 years !!! ... so basically and simply, Microsoft future is our past :) ...  in those 5 years, Apple produced 6 different releases from the Mac OS X (Cheetah, Puma, Jaguar, Panther, Tiger and Tiger for intel) while Microsoft was just releasing their Windows XP with 2 or 3 different names ... anyway I'm not gonna talk more .. if you want to see with your OWN eyes what I'm talking about .. just watch this video

https://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=253307780391983639

it's one hour and twenty five minutes, Steve Jobs presentation in the WWDC 2006 .. the operating systems part starts at the twentith minute (00h:20m)

ps: watch the whole presentation, you will be really amused to death :)

I was making fun of it .. it's an OS but the worst poorest one :) .. compare it to other OS and you will see ... by the way, you don't have to get your mac from www.apple.com .. try looking in amazon, ebay and all similar sites, you can find really hot pieces out there wil very low prices .. i recommend you the macbook or mac mini .. any of both will cost you the least

Well...  Mac is way better in everything comparing to windows,
But windows is much easier to use... as in menu... :-/
Its the same for mobiles!
Nokia is the easiest software menu to use
But there are other brands much better than Nokia but not as easy as Nokia.

yes Jose, you are right but let's set some basics here :)
  • Apple is much related to Arts, whenever and wherever you find any Computer Art (Photos, Videos and Audio) related task or issue, you will find Apple
  • you are already using Apple hardware (USB, FireWire and Bluetooth were invented by Apple)
  • Apple hardware is similar to PC hardware except for some technical issues and technologies appear in Apple first before PC, and this brings us to the main point which says "it's not only about the hardware you are using, it's more about the software you are running on this hardware and how does it make use of it" .. I consider this is a main difference between Windows & Unix
  • about softwares, yes .. you will find all your favourite software for Mac, even some software vendors like Adobe and Macromedia launch their applications for Mac before they do for windows, you will even find MS Office 2004 for Mac (2007 will be released soon), microsoft messanger for Mac .. briefly, all softwares you working on is available for Mac
  • Same goes for Games ... all games come with Mac version just like the windows version
  • in Apple, you dont need drivers, you really enjoy what Windows wrongly announce "Plug & Play" .. in Mac you really enjoy this plug & play, plug anything (iPod, external storage, cameras, any device) and it will work instantly without asking for any restart !, without asking for install and modify system files !!, and when you finish, just eject or remove the device safely and its BOOM, done like a piece of cake
  • in Apple you will find NO Viruses, NO trojans, NO spyware shit .. also NO hanging or crashing, NO failure, the only thing you might face as a machine failure is the Kernel Panic (common on all Unix systems) and this really rarely happens, it never happened with me until now
  • you will never bother yourself in any kind of software installation cause Mac does it for you automatically
  • you will just find every task and everything is going easier, faster, smoother and more efficient :)

yes mate ..you will never need any antivirus or firewall (firewall is built-in) ... Mac Pro is a very powerful desktop my friend, more powerful than your needs, also it's for 1,950 EUR ... I recommend for you iMac 24" for 1,565 EUR or iMac 20" for 1,170 EUR .. and for notebooks MacBook 13" black for the same price of iMac 20" 1,170 EUR

ps1: these prices are the official ones, you can find cheaper in amazon or ebay and alike services

ps2: you will be able to run Windows XP SP2 or Vista natively by specifying the partition size you want to create a windows partition (FAT32 or NTFS) and install your Windows on it, run all your windows applications on your Apple hardware and side by side with your Macintosh
