What got my attention to the Idc pre organizational discussions was the new button in the grey box.
i read most of whats written one thing i agree on is that there should be a track list (i wasnt really hear last year but i like to know what am i listening 2)
i think it doesn't really matter what country they come from its all about the music :djing:  thats what i believe

Quote: how about respect? and at least 2-3 thousand people will see your name like every day for a year? =) that is some psychological attack on subconscious level

thats true you would want to know what is he/she? what do they do...

Slash, I really did not explain that well at all.

I think the respect and recognition of the music that has been produced is the first and foremost. IDC sets from earlier this year are still being downloaded to this day. This is great! It was more that if you were to add the Scene idea that would it be more marketable to dj's and potential users of TM? And was their any better ways of getting this idea out there?

I think rewards within the website (VIP, Immortals) etc are more what i was getting to.

so is there going to be a limited number of DJs in this IDC or  it's open for any 3 to make a team and join , I think they must be limited or there will be lots of GB to download and a very long time to hear all of them

I Think That unknown Djs which didnt participate on IDC Before ( Like Me ) ... 've 2 send a 15 min Promo mix or Mega mix & thier Bio , Then Reviewed & Choose the best according 2 the no. of teams expected 2 be :)
slash ProDanceCulture on October 6th, 2008 / post 27192
yeah, again and again comes the problem of new djs vs older djs, and it's more of a moral problem, not anything else... should we give green light to new djs and give them better chance of getting in to the IDC, or should we better try and attract more famous djs, which is a better candy for the ears of the judges, as well as a bigger sponsor catcher... while typing this post i've distracted myself into writing a special message to 2 of my contacts with https://www.Beatport.com, hoping they'll get interested in sponsorship. maybe we'll get something, who knows, some gift certificates as prizes.. i'll keep everyone informed.

so in case we'll get too many teams trying to register, maybe allowed 20 teams (60 djs?), we can either set distinct start with first 20 registered teams cut off, or we could do it by the summary ratings of [e]-browser, the higher the rating - the more popular team is in tribalmixes, so more popular teams will be advanced into the competition itself.

and yeah.,.. pretty much any dj that uploads their music to tribalmixes can become a vip. so it's not a prize, really.. =)

you're making some interesting points here slash (points as in opinions haha).
took me some time to read everything and i'll just make a few remarks.

1. 3 djs/team instead of 5 and at most 10 teams means less to judge and a lot less djs. i strongly advise this: 3 djs/team and at least 20 teams.
Argument: 3 djs x 10 teams x 1h/mix = 30 hours of music.
IDC 2008 had more than 12 teams and 5 djs/team, this means more than 60 hours of music.
20 teams with 3 djs/team would give you at least 60 hours of music.

2. Teams should be encouraged to bring new djs. New djs means, in this context, djs with a low [e]-browser score. I won't advise giving extra points for this, because it's easy to create a new alias and register as a new user on Tribalmixes.
This idea is not made to give you points and help you win, rather than help a fellow dj get promoted on this site.

If, however, some of you want to receive extra points for bringing less known djs into your teams, we could find a way to do that.

SLASH if, you read this and like the idea, please PM me. i think it suits the competition.

3. I like the T-Shirts idea as a prize. I was really hoping to get a tribalmixes T-Shirt, but didin't know how.
The Beatport gift certificates idea is awesome. It'd be a great incentive.

4. Regarding the most popular users, by [e]-browser stats, i don't think this idea is that good. I mean why must only the popular djs get so much attention? Don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining and I don't have anything against them, I just wanna give the next guy a chance, you know what I mean. Slash, you've talked about American Idol and America's got talent and such. I'm applying the same principle here. Let every community member express himself.
And don't worry about lowering the quality of the mixes, because as teams form, they will instinctively try to better themselves.

5. I love the idea of blind judging. I had a friend who made some contests on tranceaddict.com some years ago. He used the same judging technique. It really paid out.

6. Scene.org, didn't really get that... i have to read it again. i like the concept, I just wanna get some more info on this.

7. Must we really have released our songs? I mean I'm only an amateur producer and my tracks need a lot of work still, but must there really be such a requirement? Don't really mind, in my case, but I'm thinking about other producers who are on the brink of releasing new songs.

I'll return with comments later. Hope to get your reply.

And as you said, I apologies if this big post scared anyone.

LE:

3a). Regarding the blind sets. I've read something about removing id tags and numbering the mixes. I think that's great. Maybe you've already thought about this, but I think the numbers should be random, so the judges will have a harder time if they try to guess which dj recorded that mix.

... see, it doesn't really matter for judges, and they won't know djs, and mp3s will be shuffled, so 1.mp3, 2.mp3 and 3.mp3 will be from 3 different teams, to assure unbiased judgments even better...

I'm too lazy now and I'll read all this stuff later  :-D  But I'm with slash for this rule

thanks for good post, SilentRaver. let's get on with answering and discussing deeper... 1 - of course it'll be at least 20 teams, not 10. i said there "say, 10 teams".. 2 - as i've written before, this is a dilemma. let's hear what community might say.. check main page poll. 3 - i'll be trying to contact some other companies. since i've signed exclusive advertising for beatport, i cannot ask sponsorship from anything alike beatport. but i will be trying maybe turntable companies, maybe some others... 4 - is same as 2, don't you find? 6 - scene.org is to check out the computer demo scene. i only took the idea of 'real-time' compo, which in to words sounds like this: all teams are given a bunch of same tracks, they are required to produce a mix out of them within 2 week period (usually such compos last several hours, or maybe 2-3 days tops, but we're taking this task home, cause noone can cheat in this contest).. 7 - no, you don't have to have released tracks. i was saying that only as a method of proving tracks' authenticity i.e. being your product. if it is a brand new track of yours, i think proof will not be required, cause it'll show, and sooner or later we'll catch the cheater, if someone lies. harder to prove your hand in a non-released remix. so usage of remixes might be 'less rewarding' for bonuses.. 3a - of course mixes will be shuffled for judges. in a perfect situation, of course we cannot avoid someone being recognized, maybe competitors simply telling judges which tracks were used in their mixes, so analogies could be drawn, but we should really not concentrate on that, cause majority of the judges will judge relentless of authors.

expanding the theme of 'real-time compo', i thought that this one could be for everyone, i.e. all tracks will be provided for anyone to download and try and mix together, and later everyone can submit their mixes and try and compete with the idc djs' mixes (still i think teams should present only 1 mix as joint effort or single dj mixing, no matter). and yeah, in this case we could award VIP-s to winners, if required. yeah, another thing from the "prize department" is that any IDC dj can apply and will be accepted with 99% possibility to tribalmixes radio for to run and host a show.
