It's really all about House music :) ''Nothing else maters'' - as guys from Metallica would say :)

From My point of View , it is about Sense , feeling the tunes , feeling the beat , from my point of view I can tell that you need a very hard training on a good equipments and start feeling the Music, listening to all genres is just a must to understand the criteria of every genre.
I tried Djing several times , but I think I didn't find the Dj inside me , maybe I'm a listener but not a dj , it's not a simple thing to be just a successful Dj

its not that easy bidonksi.. to be a dj u have to know diffrent music genres and have a huge music knowledge.. which most of the new ''wannabedjs'' dont have.u have to understand music.. u have to understand the people in da club.to create an atmosphere.. to keep ppl excited and make them want to listen to ur next track instead of going to the room next of urs where the other dj plays.. u have to mix musically and flawless.. which again most of the djs cant.. there are alot of things to learn before calling urself a dj

im absolutely agree with Willy84..perfectly said dude

... so what? i can not be a dj if i dont know different music genres or if i did not have huge* musical knowlege...

why do u think the most of 'new wannabedjs' replaced the most of the oldskool djs....
do u see anywhere someone from the old generation djs...? i dont speak about the big names*
but people like slobodan, hardcell, johan bacto, redhead maybe u dont even hear about them, and many more....
the most important thing is to have a music soul full of feelings and fresh and new ideas!
when i was in ur age...we joke together that urus umek dont even know the musical notes...but he is awesome astrodisconaut....

the only thing that u have learn is to LISTEN and FEELING! the secret is in ur mind and ur ears!
u feel the sound or not...thats all...u cant be a dj if u learn books or go for private lessons

how do u think i realize what i have to do with the trax....? someone told me...or show me..NOOO!
i was 15 years old when i touch the vinyl...and keep trying....and keep trying to synchronize the beats...nobody show me how...just training my ears and my hearing with the right sound....
hope u've got my point

as bidona said...'its a way of life'...and the sitiation is same as the other arts and jobs...u can be a movie actor or not to be...same

be cool

You can be a DJ regardless of your musical knowledge, your skills etc etc.Basicly, these days everyone can be a DJ.The IDC was a great example for that.Mate, being a DJ without having listened tons of music is like being a history teacher knowing nothing about history. When Mark Knight and Funkagenda ripped of Man with the man half of the 'DJs' that bought the tune had no idea by whom the original was.Same goes for all the rip offs that get released lately. And dude, how is it possible to learn to listen and feel?I don't understand that part. You either 'feel' the rythm or not - simple as that.
And all this 'feel the music' blah-blah is kinda a cliche. It's all about reading the crowd, creating atmosphere, build up your mix etc etc. There is no actual feeling music in that sense.
Again I say, you can be a DJ no matter the circumstances.

well thats the diffrence between a great dj and an average dj ..u defo need to have some musical knowledge in order to be unique

yes yes im simply comming from mars....

i see u have pretty much experience in the electronic music enen...and i absolutely dont know what are u talking about..what tune? but lets stop right here.

and it's not just that, there is nothing without a music production. I know few DJs in Bosnia who do not produce the music, but they spin the vinyl and they are a DJs - one of them is 19 years old - never went to a music school - so what does he knows about the music? nothing, but he knows how to spin the vinyl;
Relax and buy an equipment, buy a bunch of vinyls or CDs - practice practice practice until you develop hearing for the mix - it's a long journey but if you want it so bad then you will succeed!
Good luck
