I feel that a day that you didn't learn something is a day wasted.
Yeah mate, I have the information hunger too.But that does not mean you have to learn something just like that.. just to learn something, no matter what.I think its more important you concentrate urself on studying a field of study that will later come to use.Russian is one hell of a language. The information/literature you can find on russian is immense. There is no other language like that.Another thing is, enlightening yourself, learning new things, making a new experience... that doesn't really have to be done without music.
Let me quote a legendary musician:
I feel that your decision is widely influenced by religion.I'm happy you found your way of life, but don't forget to have a little fun, too.

My decision is NOT influenced by religion. At least it's not influenced by the religion that i "currently" practice. You are younger than me and you can speak 3 languages. I am 28 and only know english. There is some point in your life where you have to say "what exactly have you done/learned in your life?" That answer can be upsetting sometimes.
Especially if you are never happy with yourself and always want greater results.

You are right though. But maybe its just me but the music isn't as good as it was about 2 yrs ago. Do you understand me or agree with me?
2 years? You kiddin'?Music quality goes down the charts the last decade.People take working/catchy melodies and chords from old songs and turn them into a commercial monster and make enough money to buy a lill' island and don't even bother coming up with a second album.Bands/musicians that are actually real artists, making real art are harder and harder to find - mainly old ones from the 70' 80' and 90' that are still alive or just keep doing their thing.Just compare hip hop nowadays to the hip hop 20 years ago. There are some times I wish I wasn't that young. But on the other hand if you look hard enough you'll find plenty of cool music from people that have never been on MTV and will never be, if you get what I mean.
My connection to music is very strong.I wouldn't be able to give up on it.You know, I stopped listenin' to new stuff coming out on beatport etc, from time to time I've been given newly released music but I mainly concentrate on music from the old days.Music I missed but shouldn't have.Trying to find my own thing when I produce myself, looking for inspiration etc.And to be honest modern music can hardly do the trick. Some stuff just sounds as if it's been written with no influences whatsoever.I wonder, is my taste f*cked up or the taste of my generation?

yeah... you're interesting, James... you say you're having info-pangs, so you wanna cut off ears, cause only the eyes are needed... what can i say... been listening to jungle/d'n'b/breaks since 1995, and loving it ever since, and will never give it up. that's one unspoiled scene, afaik... you need years to learn russian language to talk properly, several months of watching videos might not be enough... i don't wanna discourage you, but well by grammar and all those things russian is one of the hardest languages in the world, only chinese/japanese can compete, if their hieroglyphs could be included, cause those are numerous and hard to remember... =)
as for your thoughts of despair... dude... 2-3 centuries ago back in time when most of mathematical findings/inventions were made/discovered/etc... imagined? well, in those times people used to wear wigs... stupid tradition, nevertheless alot of bright minds in those days would die in age of 25-30. having made, of course, a couple of great theorems, lets say, having left a good impact on the mathematics of the centuries to come... so why knowing all that if you're dead??? watch the road, when driving! =)

Interesting reply Slash and Enen. From a knowledge of the Russian language i don't have any idea what so ever. I wish you a whole lot of luck Boca. I am like Enen and have solid root into this style of music and i am pretty sure it would hurt to have to let it go. I too have had a solid interest in EDM since 1997, later on i have become more a fan of breaks. I feel that breaks djs are leading in their abilitys to put together a mix of tracks to draw you in, make you listen and take you on a journey and lastly putting a smile on your face! Maybe that influence has been lost? Yes, music changes with time, individual interests change too!

Thanks for the words and its not at all discouraging. I listen to the same cd twice a day for a week then move onto the next level. all on my mp3 player. one thing is i can't "roll my r's" lol. btw i have no desire to learn japanese and chinese. I hope within the next yrs that i have a small grasp on russian, arabic, and german though. im tired of living the life i live. one day i hope to visit all of those countries i listed. with the economy the way it is i dont see it happening any time soon though. I also have a prog on the pc for learning languages. I listed three languages. thats a lot too. But you can never have your goals too high. I see what you mean by talking of the wigs and dying at the age of 30. The romans weren't expected to live past around 25yrs. But if i had it to do all over again. My mother would have put me in those classes at a VERY early age. But its impossible when she raised me alone. Things were different on an extroardinary level in those times too.
Slash Yes im having INfo-pangs. Never heard it put that way. But you know what i mean:) And I promise I wont cut off my dance music ears. I just wanna spend some time and learn a bit more too. :)

Its not your taste. its the new generation that is. I liked Soudgarden, Nirvana, and a few others. YRS ago. But now rock sucks. its all makeup and bulls&%t. But for dance music im saying that its declined ON TRIBALMIXES within the last two yrs. Electro has never met my qualifications. Electro in my opinion is "Jackal and Hyde's music. www.myspace.com/jackalandhyde. I think that url is correct. And breaks was never really popular on here along with jungle and dnb. I wish lawler would go back to Tribal. I hope i am being clear enough:))
