New Uploading Rule, page 1

Willy84vip Bongaz on March 8th, 2009 / post 29007
For all users who get the uploading privilege a new rule has came up  :judge:

it's not accepted to add a torrent to the website and it's title look like this

Anthony_Pappa_-_Moments_on_Proton_Radio_-5-Jan-2009_www.blahblah.com

if I see a torrent like this it will be deleted immediately and the user or the uploader who upload it will be warned and won't be able to upload for an undecided period .

and if it happen more than once I think some will lose their Uploading Option .

I'm not kidding and this issue made me mad for a while , when I download a set from www.tribalmixes.com , and ruin my ratio for that and then play the set in my media player to find it have another website name in the title and the artist name and every where in the media file

it will take you 30 seconds to edit the tags , if you want to give credits to the original source you can add a .txt file telling thanks to this website or mention that in the description.

I will follow torrent by torrent and the next time I will find a torrent like that it will be deleted no matter what it is or whom the uploader , it will be deleted and the one who uploaded will get warned

This is an Example for an accepted torrent

Anthony Pappa - Moments on Proton Radio - 5-Jan-2009

I was going to add this only to staff but I think that most of the uploaders can handle this and take care of their torrent names and tags , So power users and Vip , Please Take care.

i don't really see what the fuzz is all about... if that is how file came, that is how it will go. do not forget, tribamixes is a tracker, cut down to basics, it tracks torrents as in stores their info and arranges it nicely on request. it does 1 single change to torrents, yeah, makes them private, but i am also considering this an atrocity. all the rest is how users wanna do it. tracker only presents its own info nicely, but when you get that torrent, mp3 file on your hdd will be named as it was named originally before making that torrent file. since it is users' wish on how to share that torrent, and it is also nice to preserve original names and tags, since we're all members of one greater society - p2p sharing network, and common sense says - do not change file to leave more chances for others to have it already and join in seeding. this is not words necessarily about our website, but on generally bigger public trackers, with millions of users and peers.

ps. i really do not like when my music folder has subfolders name something like this : "Be prepared for... - 8.3.2009".... at least dated, but no dj name. dj has files named so on their computer, in one folder or many having own mixes is easy, making them and giving names really eases this fast recognition process... not really caring that other people might have many other mp3s in the same download folder, dj shares their mp3 through torrents with mix with name really keeping same state as it was on dj's computer... it is understandable. but bothers alot... but nothing can be really done about it... especially no new 'rules' can be issued on mp3 naming, neither any can be set for purposeful lingering though id-tags to remove any reminders of other sources to obtain this file. i understand i might sound unpatriotic, but this is not the way of stirring up things, in my opinion...

For this topic (torrent naming), i see 3 possibilities

1) STRONG policy

That means, that all torrents will have to be named (and optionally placed in directory) according to our rules.

2) WEAK policy

That means, that the torrents will be named as they came in as files, but certain rules will be applied like:
a) no website tag in filename
b) identifiable naming of the filename (must include dj/date/venue(show) but there is no fix rule about how)
c) etc , ...

3) NO policy

I personally vote for 2).

i hope everyone is clear on the following: torrent filename is one thing, it has nothing to do with anything; next, names of all files and folders inside a torrent, those are required not to be offensive, but in the end, any torrent client will allow editing of filenames/foldernames in torrents thus changing them on hdd (if not in process, then in the beginning, when just starting this new torrent), so each downloader is free to do their own thing with the filenames; and finally, the displayed torrent name on the tracker, and this one is strongly censored according to a set of rules, also being pretty much the name everyone would see around the website.

Well lately I've downloaded as I said earlier 3 sets and all of them have the www.blahblah.com in the title of the file and also in the artist names and the show too , so all I need for now as trying to change the concept of uploading rules , is to take care of our website by not advertising for other one , when I get a set from TM so it's for TM not for the other blah blah website .

_ or 20% mostly come from scene realeses , so in this case most of the scene realeses comes in folder you can change the folder name and leave what is inside is inside but make sure that there is no websites ads. in side it .

shouldn't we tag title of files with www.tribalmixes.com and in the details in advance, in this way the tag will be shown in media display also ;-)  next thing is music is sharing in cds all the time and if this cds contain sets from us when shared person who listen to them will see tags and so on and on..
Willy84vip Bongaz on March 9th, 2009 / post 29020
well this is a good action from you but it's not a must , and the main criteria here is to have every thing is tidy format , no websites on the title no wired letters except from scene releases , and make sure that these stuff is not inside the tags too , you don't have to edit every thing just make sure that there is no other websites addresses added in the file ( media File ) and the title looks Good which means looks like that

Dj Name - Show or place of the set - date

isn't that easy
(user gone) on March 9th, 2009 / post 29021
it is, but am saying  can i do them Dj Name - Tile - Date -www.tribalmixes.com
moocowdanstar Mid Tempo Bounc on March 9th, 2009 / post 29027
Willy i am not sure about this one.

I do agree that there should be no website address in the title but often it is nice to find a website address in the tags and if you download a promo mix and like it you have a reference to head off to and gather and listen to more of your favourite music.

I have trouble understanding how underscores affect the whole scheme of mix titles. As long as the title begins with the tile of the dj or show, should there be an issue?

if an uploader chooses to keep the filename in its original state and reference the source should he/she be punished?
Willy84vip Bongaz on March 9th, 2009 / post 29028
No moocowdan i's not nice to find another website inside the tags of the file it really annoys me and others who requested this rule too , if you want to add the website there is no problem but in txt file or in description of the set .

For Penthouse if you want to add tribalmixes.com to the name of the file it's ok but I don't prefer that too , it's better to leave the file with it's information like the dj name - show - date .

if you want to add the website name you can use the comment area in the tags of the file to add the website or your name in that will be better

No one will get warned for having (_)s in the title of the file , but ppl will get warned for having another website name in the title , also any torrent that do not match the rule of the title and add something like slash mentioned *(be prepared ... 8-2-09)* where is the dj name ?? so that torrent will be deleted !!

For the last time and I think every thing is now really clear , DJ NAME - SHOW OR PLACE - DATE

IS THAT CLEAR NOW  :hmm:

and i am one of these people requested this new rule for no website in the file at all, because:
1) a lot of other trackers and links are offering the sources with tag of their website no matter if in title file at the end or in comment in details. but having one of this possibilities to tag the comment detail is fine.
2) music spreads in many forms, i have music given to me in cds or data programs and some of it have tag of website where they came from but not the title in the comment form, so for example u see this tag and visit the site for more good music. i think will be good our music to spread with comment tag of the site for good reason, i may sound selfish but these sites don't create the music neither.

Some trackers not require tags, some does it, some wont actually let u share a torrent without the website info attached to the file (www.tribalmixes.com.info)
slash ProDanceCulture on March 10th, 2009 / post 29045
what moocowdan meant was that if you get some mp3 file in its original state as it left dj's computer, then you might find in tags the website that this dj could have added somewhere, where you would find more of dj's music, if you liked this one alot and want more. but once again, i say you're looking for trouble in places that shouldn't be really bothering... i mean, take those scene releases, at least 5-10 files per folder, all with underscores and folder with underscores, making it quite a number of filenames to change, do we actually have right to insist uploaders have to change all that? we have the obvious right and a duty to show data as much fancy as we want or require, that i can assure..
moocowdanstar Mid Tempo Bounc on March 11th, 2009 / post 29048
Yes that is the way that i was trying to explain my point. After reading back over it now, it is not so clear.

Sometimes uploading time is short in our busy days and i think we do have to make the uploading rules as easy and straight forward as possible.

Thanks
