1. if you are not connectable and you're new to all this topic, try to open ports in your firewall. although i'm saying this, i assume next that opening ports in firewall is easy and anyone can do it.
2. still not connectable. here we go, a universal method that helps me ,ake my client connectable no matter what...
- click on your name to see what you are leaching or seeding to see what of your torrents are connectable or not.
- select all your not-connectable peers in the client. in azureus i ctrl-click them to mark them all together. say in burst you cannot do that, so you will need to do all steps for each torrent, which is not too cool. i make 40 unconnectable peers into connectable ones in azureus in just two mouse clicks.
- stop them. do not pause, but stop. in burst or bit-tornado you will have to close that.
- limit total upload speed to some smaller value. when done don't forget to increase it later to 80% of what it can do. less is greedy and selfish, more is bad for downloading or surfing the internet. again, azureus lets you do that easy, while others can be pain.
- wait a minute or so, refresh your info, see if all of them disappeared. memorize the values on top of the screen for your peer_report, to see later what happened when you start all torrents again.
- start all those torrents that you have marked. wait a minute. refresh info. check.
- here we can have three results:
.. all torrents are said connectable. good!
.. all ned peers are not connectable! worse, but not too bad. solution is : wait five to ten minutes and do everything again. see what happens. honestly, i do this always, and every time it helps 100%. so if you wait and let it stay for 5-10 minutes and then start them, they all become connectable with 95% chance. changing port or range of ports in client will also help a lot!
.. some are connectable, some still aren't. repeat same thing in a few minutes for lesser amount of torrents.

i still need to figure out if there's something to do with hosting, but here's the best solution for now. do it and see what happens!

ps by the way, if you click this link, you will see (if the file is still on the website) a list of peers for this torrent, saying how many are seeding or leaching, and who is connectable. you can check it on any torrent scrolling down to the peers area and clicking see full list link.

Hello, I been downloading alot past several days. It took me a while to get my ratio up and have way more uploaded then downloaded. Well for past several days it has been saying im 100% not connectable. This is driving me insane. I have done everything listed in this thread. I have my firewall open, I have no idea why its not showing im connectable. I am very computer litterate. I just dont understand why it keeps showing im not connectable. I have re-verified ports several times and still no dice I also made an exception in winblows firewall and still no dice...Any other ideas are helpful...Thanks all

Just thought I'd mention that I was 100% unconnectable & had tried a few bit torrent clients on Linux .

I've just installed Vuze https://www.vuze.com bit torrent client which users Java so is cross platform - I.E - works on windows also .

Me is now 100% connectible :-D

edit: Because vuze users more resources than other lighter clients I have just installed Utorrent using wine in linux ubuntu & all is running nice a scmoooth

I had also had nightmares with this non-connectable status.

The reason wasn't in my equipment - (router, computer, Operating System).

The reason was dynamical (due to the ISP) and not until it has been resolved I had difficulties with the site also.

Slash has made the problem even more difficult.

The tracker doesn't announce the IP address of a client which is found non-connectable. It doesn't matter this status can be temporal and it is possible for the client to be connectable for all time but the only tracker attempt to fail. (The additional procedure offered to resolve the problem with a temporal non-connectable status are stupid attempt to resolve something that shouldn't exist at all.)
Such a policy isn't fair. The fair policy is for the tracker to announce every client IP address and leaves the peer clients to do their job but to warn it couldn't connect to the client.
There are cases when unwanted changes have been made so, a warning about non-connectable status is usefull.

brother, you're wrong. at least about me interfering. you must know better than that - i'm here to help. and to be specific, right now tracker gives out 20 peers per request without consideration of their connectability. it has been this way for quite a while, to be specific, since last time me and you talked about it, - for a few months, maybe half a year... to prove my point, here's the query from announce that asks for peers from db to send them to the requester.

on the other hand, i wanna share my last night's experience... i've had no internet a day ago, started at midnight and lasted till i got home 5pm, so i called comcast and nice lady told me: when "recycling" modem by disconnecting it's power source (as i knew), i also needed to disconnect the actual cable from it and to turn off the router (these 2 - never done), so basically after doing that and waiting for 2 minutes, it worked when i connected all back. BUT! i dunno either it was the operator's work there or something else, but my IP address changed, and along with it changed my connectable status. to completely 100% not connectable. and so i was pissed like hell, cause couldn't download my favorite shows. not only that, i tried to run bittornado - stupid software didn't even want to try anything reporting that it couldn't initialize it's listening through upnp. what do you know, - i've spent two hours doing all i could, and seriously - i know many ways to turn connectable, and i've had ports open in router, and i tried to turn upnp in router on and off, and even do the DMZ option - when all ports are forcefully open for one computer on the router's network, and my router is Linksys WRT54GS with wireless, so basically i tried EVERYTHING. nothing changed. frustrated, i almost hit router with my foot. well, i did hit it. and felt bad. and decided to erase its memory about this assault from my side by RESETTING THE ROUTER TO ITS FACTORY STATE by reaching in the back with a pen pressing that reset button there while powering router on. believe me or not, i've momentarily become fully 100% connectable. now my router doesn't have any info on ports that need to be opened, doesn't care about anything, just thinks it's fresh from the plant... well... this really made me think: can other routers make you connectable by resetting their setting to factory defaults? if someone has time and courage - please, try it on your router. i'd love to hear back about this. and also this made me think this: if this is true and all routers will be connectable by simply doing that, why all that fuss with portforward.com and all other stuff? maybe there are people who want us to feel unconnectable? =)))

As to the "RESETTING THE ROUTER TO ITS FACTORY STATE", it is known approach.
At least I run on it when I had my nightmares with the my non-connectivity.

I have forgotten about the problems not possible to solve and make the router working properly unless RESETTING THE ROUTER has been made but here you can find more information.

,so after getting new router, a bit strange problem poped up,basically on my status menu i have seeding:9 - all not connectable,I tried the old trick with stopping all seeds in my torrent client and then checking how many torrents are not ok .Then i`ve noticed that I`m seeding torrents witch i`ve never leeched,the "strange" torrents were my roommate`s,but he`s seeding from his own laptop and user account for TM .
I deleted all my seeds,and exit utorrent but the problem is still on :no:

We`ve set different IP`s,The network discovery and sharing are turned off,he is using XP,mine is Vista.The only common is the Utorrent client that we both have. May be cause of the same DNS server and default getaway..... :-/

if someone has a solution pls i miss my all connectable status,

all right! now we have a special feature that is really devoted to connectability or your seeds and leeches.
1. main page, bottom statistics table, check the bottom two lines for general overview of the question :).
2. torrent details page, click on 'show full list' fpr seeders or leechers at the bottom of the information table to see connectability of peers for given torrent.
3. on your profile page, click on your name and open your status page, check lines with info on your own peers, how many of each type you have.
4. scroll down to see lists of files you are seeding or downloading, there you see what peers exactly are connectable, and what are not.

don't forget, that around here everybody who is leeching or seeding a torrent we would call a peer.

and PLEASE when you are in your profile checking your peers SELECT YOUR COUNTRY!!
