so where is the proof? i don't see any problems with this. and i don't see any proof that there are problems. there's no surprise about Guetta, his clever marketing campaign coupled with dozens of tracks he produced in collaboration with current hip-hop and pop stars have covered virtually ALL groups of electronic music lovers, including hip-hop lovers, pop lovers and average club goers, his tracks have been played all over the world in all clubs and on all remotely dance-oriented radio FM stations.

on the other hand, as wikipedia says, "According to the most recent definition agreed upon by the federal and state governments, the Mexico City metropolitan area population is 21.2 million people, making it the largest metropolitan area in the western hemisphere and the fifth largest agglomeration in the world". basically Mexico City is one of the biggest cities in the world. so why is it so surprising that all of these DJs get the majority of their fans from one of the largest living places on the planet? if we'd assume that they get their fans equally from all places all over the world, then it is just making sense to assume that the biggest city would give the biggest group of fans, am i not right?

so far i can't see any arguments on that picture. only words "busted".. who busted? why busted?

ps. you know my personal dislike of all the 6 names listed there, i am just trying to be reasonable here..

I believe that Guetta 'et al' are all shite.

They can't polish Cattaneo's boots or Cox's.

However, if ask 50 people I know in my local town, chances are that at least half of them will know who Guetta is and virtually none of them will know who Cox or Cattaneo is.  

Sad - but I'm happy to test the theory out!

Although living in France is bound to make Guetta more popular of course!!

to me it smacks of all the DJ charts they churn out, utter bollox and we all know it is... as far as the no mark wannanbe's they're a global brand because the corporate labels have got involved, let them be mainstream and shite, because thats all it will remain, with all those idiots who are corn fed this crap can continue to listen to it... so the underground can prosper.

To be honest I have discussions with my mate I go away with throughout europe and he tries to educate me in  this shit, to be honest I'm not interested and never will be!!!

can someone explain to me, how did they acquire this data? it is only accessible to page admins. same person being admin on all those 6 pages? impossible.

in general, this is all one big fake, but not the stats, - THE PICTURE. Tokes, you just wanna believe this, well, why not?

and here is why this pic is fake...

1. noone can generally access stats on likes, aka insights, except admins, and admins won't be revealing this info
2. there are 3600 fans on tm page, on an average post on that page we get 2-3 likes, sometimes maybe 6-7.. average - 2-3. which means 1 out of 1000-1500 fans will like your post. check out guetta's fan page. there;s a post with 26.000 likes, so we can safely assume that his number of fans is 26.000*(1000-1500) - about 30-35mln fans, which is what the page says
3. the pic was made very recently, cause since then guetta got only 100k more fans, and that is weird, cause with 36mln he should be getting new fans ALOT! insights page have been lookign differently for the past year or so...
4. mexico city is one of the biggest cities in the world. assume everywhere fans are dispersed equally, then why there shouldn't be more fans in the biggest cities, than anywhere else?

A positive i will give Guetta and co. is that a lot of kids listening to them will eventually delve a little deeper and find out where the real magic is. For those who don't, well good luck listening to what your being told to listen to. Ignorance is bliss and all that.

i think you're all deviating from the topic, which was "fake fans". i know you're all always ready to rattle about guetta, and i am with you on that, but the conversation is about fake fans, not about fake djs.. =)

yep Dan, ignorance is bliss mate, I don't waste any time on this, just concentrate on great  music thats currently around and always will  be!

Slash the images might be fake, but the stats are close enough(having loosely checked)... so it maybe true to a certain level, its all nonsense either way and I or anyone else with any credibility should give a fuck mate!!!

How about a favourite dj poll here on Tribalmixes??? we did a similair thing at Mr... everyone lists their fav 5 Djs or so... tally it up... RESULT???????
