I seem to remember a transition for me into tribal, however progressive was still top notch around then, just didn't listen to loads then!!

You could well be right!! I was slowly starting to move towards progressive house around that time. The last time i heard a trance set at a club/event came out the venue and said WOW what a set was in 2001 this set - https://www.tribalmixes.com/torrent/76416-paul-oakenfold-at-gatecrasher-n-e-c-oct-2001

That was the last time Oakey played a blinder, but by then I was starting to listen to the likes of Lee Burridge, Craig Richards, Futreshock, Darren Emerson, Sister Bliss & many others. I had always liked Sasha & Digweed after the Northern exposure series    I think as a rule more & more people were starting to lean toward all things house around 2001 as Trance was slowly on the decline!

one of 2000-2005 was for sure the best year.. can't really argue about the certain period, but the whole first few years of 3rd millennium were brightened with deep and, quite often, dark progressive house coming from top world djs.

ps are we in the best year for dubstep right now???

Great post Andy, i have had to think about this one......

Initially i was thinking the same as Slash. 2000-2001 i think we were still ruled by house, mainstream, tribal and dirty, dark house. Yes, there were scatterings of outstanding progressive mixes within these years, but by no means prevalent.

2001-2004 came some very good progressive, i would say the dominant electronic music genre. 2004-2005 saw a movement more to the tech side and the emergence of minimal house.

I don't think we can ignore the progressive scene which is upon us now and began to emerge in late 2011. As Slash mentioned the rise of underground dark progressive is pure gold, with this the rise in popularity and followings of your big three, Digweed, Sasha and Warren is more prominant now than i can remember in 20 years of listening to this music.

@ Danderson , There is nobody seeding this set ! As i have been un -connectable for some time now and can't fix the problem unfortunately I can,t help sorry ??? You should be able to find the mix elsewhere though ? it is an essential mix after all ! unless somebody seeds of course!

nothing worse than getting all exccited about d/ling a set and afterwards realizing there are NO seeds, i mean, why bother teasing a person with greatness, only to find that there is no way of obtaining it from this site. i have so many empty torrens to delete due to lack of seeders. you guys move way too fast for me, its all fresh stuff or good luck finding even one seed, which is precious. i think tribal got massive with the west coast advent of Funky Tekno Tribe, that collective was the best, along with one from San Fran, Wicked, it was Garth, JENO, and others, plus they ran their own club~ wish i had gotten to see the whole crew. the internet is truly amazing for us tekno freaks.

man, house was always the majority favorite, none of my friends understood my cutting edge imported techno back in 89-94, and being the driver of the car just made it worse. cuz even though i drove, i didnt have control of the music, everyone else bitched too much!
