Help with seeding with seedbox, page 1

XFREEXWORLDXlightning UltimateSuccess on August 11th, 2013 / post 60261
I bought a seedbox with rutorrent installed and I used a freeleach torrent that I was going to seed for about a year to gain upload points and help out with the community.

The download was complete but the status right now says it's seeding and amount uploaded is still 0.00kb... does anybody know how to fix this problem?

^That is a screenshot of what is currently going on.

History of what I changed in settings:

>set the upload and download bandwidth limit to 0 (which sets it to Unlimited)
>changed the torrent to high priority
>changed the ratio group to 0 then 1 then 2 and still nothing so I put it back to normal (such as 0)

Solutions on how to solve this issue so I can be able to seed for an infinite amount of time with an actual upload rate fully working will be greatly appreciated.

From what I can see in the screenshot, everything looks to be in order. Bandwith limit to unlimited is good, changing priority won't make any difference if there's only 1 torrent, changing ratio group won't matter if you haven't defined them (which should only be done if you have a monthly volume limit). You can go through your settings to see if there's anything out of the ordinary, but a seedbox shouldn't have any wrong settings out of the box.

There are only a few people currently leeching the torrent, and none of those 9 leechers appearently is connected to your seedbox (I'm assuming it's not 90 or 900, in that case you would have a problem). It's normal that you can't connect to every user, though 0 on 9 is low, it can happen. In general it's normal that you don't constantly upload on every torrent you have, I have some 500 odd torrents active at the moment on my box, but only about 20 of those are actively uploading data even though they are almost all marked seeding, disk I/O wouldn't be able to cope with that anyway.

Best thing to do is quickly jump on a new torrent of which you expect that it'll get a lot of snatches, that way you'll be able to see if the problem is the torrent or those 9 leechers, or that it's your seedbox, or something else. Freeleeches are a good one for that, but if you look around what artists are very popular then it might be better not to wait untill it's a freeleech, but jump on them the moment they are released, so that the rest downloads (partialy) from you.

Thank You, I appreciate the excellent advice.

It turns out that the seed box is the problem. . .

>Downloaded 3 selections from the top 20 torrents
>set UL/DL rate to 0 (unlimited) upload and download bandwidth for the first 2 torrents
>realized that it's not seeding so I restarted seed box
>seed box has default settings
>download another highly seeded torrent
>torrent wont seed...

Is rutorrent an unsupported client?

Free World.... Let each torrent seed.... Give it time!

I note your edc torrent file is "complete" this means the file is not sharing and isn't available seed if someone comes on line to download it.

Each of the transition files and the essential mix look fine, green arrow (on the left hand side) means they are connectable.

These files will not continually share data, each file will only seed when someone is wanting to download them.

With a decent connection and even not downloading a file like those 4 you have you still can expect a considerable amount of share over the next 4 weeks. Force start each file and keep them sharing...

Ok, I will. . . I'm just used to how TPB works when it comes to sharing because I'm used to seeing upload rates go up when torrents seed on that public tracker, especially the torrents that are not popular at all. This 100mbit box connection is a decent connection for these type of files too so that won't be a problem.

I will keep these seeding for a long time.

Thank You

GOOD NEWS!!!

The seedbox works this whole time!

This is exciting and once again

Thank You for all your supports.

Excellent, see just give it some time, get a few files in there and the amounts will start adding up!

As KS mentioned get on popular torrents soon after being shared, this will increase your uploads, especially with a connection like that.

Yes, you won't find the quantity of data transfer on a private tracker compared to something like tPB.

Good luck, great to have you along joining us!

Thank You and I'm not trying to cheat my Share ratio or anything of that nature but . . . My share ratio is THROUGH THE ROOF, I think I need to contact the staff behind the point counting.

>My DNA even admits it's VERY BIG!!!

Nevermind, the system tells me I uploaded 2gb of data so far.

Good to hear it's working.

The main difference between TPB and TM is that this is a private tracker with a share ratio requirement. This means that people who have a torrent are more inclined to keep it seeding so downloads will complete much quicker and there will be more seeders per leecher. This means you won't see them uploading constantly but it will be in spikes. On a 100mbit connection 1 Gb will only take about 2 minutes, depending on where it's coming from or going to.
