we'll discuss it at length. probably make some draconian rules that will 1) eliminate all freeloaders, 2) keep people downloading, 3) keep people uploading, 4) have people vouch for people, aka invite system, etc.
with that said, i was also considering removing any uploading rules, if/when we go underground, to allow albums, tracks, commercial stuff, etc. if we'll be off the radar, then why put restraints, right?

sounds good mate, I look forward to that day...invites sound a good idea...a good idea would to resend an email to all "users accounts" to reconfirm their accounts that way you will have to show an interest in TM... obviosuly it would not apply to uploaders, power users, vips and any other users!!
Commerical stuff sounds a good idea, however rules on that is worth looking at too a I am sure shit will be uplaoded!!
Alright lets get the ball rolling with some ideas and some topics for discussion....
Ratio Free - I would like to see this removed, lets promote mixes with positive words or anticipation to make peers want to download mixes. Not because they are wanting to improve ratio or never listen to the mix. I question how many mixes have been downloaded from TM and never been listened to. Ratio free days should be saved for announcements and at a special time, rewarding those people who are active on TM, instead at a regular time each week, where people show up, start utorrent and not say a word, which after monitoring traffic over a 4 week period, is what is happening. The other side to this is possibly removing all of the existing ratio free on existing torrents, people who want older torrents are willing to commit to getting them, especially as they aren't available elsewhere like newly uploaded mixes.
The importance to the above also shows the need for Power Users, Uploaders, Moderators and Users to seed their torrents, especially the aged ones. Make them available for the general public and potentially capture the audience who are coming to get it and can't get it anywhere else. The importance may lay in watching the reseed requests and history requests more closely....
A clear direction - by this lets support the djs which have an interest in TM and TM RADIO and form the foundation of what TM stands for. Lets listen when TM users have something to say. The electro rubbish has to go, we haven't got any significant gain out of posting all the festival mixes from those US festivals this year (well in real life user terms) The crown who follow these events are much different than who are wanting to listen to the majority of TM RADIO shows and more underground djs we are posting form day to day.
Continue with the reward for interaction - resend emails to users outlining the changes, state clearly the rewards for posting in forums, posting in the shoutbox, commenting on mixes and most of all mention the ability to take the easy way out, donate!
I am sure i will think of more over coming days, this is a start to hopefully get peoples minds moving....
I look forward to hearing some ideas people

Oh another one while i am thinking of it....
Dismantle Rss feed and auto downloading - We want people to come here and interact, yes this is easy to acquire mixes but this does not promote the interaction and sharing what has been promoted of a mix or the comments people are wanting to share....

All of the above Dan...I think the releases should go...great idea but doesn't warrant any traffic....all the US festivals should go as they're all pitiful with the exception of Miami and Burning...
As far as ratio... they should be enforced rigidly...promoted each time to a different level then onto power user and above... (works on ST & stellarwinds)
The ratio free should only be once a year, works well on TMB as its only in December, just before Christmas... and if you don't upload any mixes or share back...you shouldn't be able to pipe your shit in the forums... take the regualr US user who does nothing but promote his own stuff... complete joke... this user would be deleted or restricted to contributing before I have see the pointless posts on new york night or tracks from labels...
No interaction on TM...bye bye...they don't make the site any better, so I would prefer to have less users, the TM DJs are great and make it a great site, I don't need to see any electro/trance users who do nothing but drop in as fast they drop out...
As far as torrents, well the ratio free torrents should be scrapped as it promotes users to come back and interact which is not the case..
All users need to login and register and attain 10Gb initially, then the ratio rules would be enforced in a particular time frame, if not account is suspended until ratio improves via sharing or donating...
Site should not be indexed in google, similar to TMB, works for them and brings the users you want time and time again, that way we get the exclusive mixes and you only get to see them if you log and are able to download the mixes...

Munkyn, I appreciate your input.... I am sure all items will be considered in generating the new set of rules.
One thing of course, TM is its own entity and should stay this way. It is ok to role model some items as other sites but to be the same or close to identical i feel is a mistake.
Let TMB be their own entity and as a group lets develop a place we want to come to share our ideas, thoughts and other musical topics.
I feel the alliance should be with TM RADIO and more should revolve around the development of that site and intertwine the two. The existing djs and users which are associated with TM RAdio make up a higher percentage of the activity here. Yes, there are the usual 3-5 bobbing in and outside of this group sharing their thoughts too.

Dan, I think Niche is defintely the way forward..take for example the forums...especially the promos and nights section...all the "users only post their own shit...none that I can find contribute....privilege is earned, not given...for me all these should go as they're getting indexed free exposure for no effort... (ratio above a certain level earns ability to post, otherwise its a waste of time)
As far as rules, well I would prefer to cherry pick the best of the rules and carve out a niche for TM that reflects the site, for me it should really be sweeping rules, that way you will only get the poeple who contribute and deserve to enjoy an amazing site..far and above alot out there..
I think you're right to incorporate the TM radio as for me numbers don't do anything...having a 100k users is good, however I imagine that not even 1% return on a regular basis...for me to see the site publicly is a mistake as we have seen in past months that if ppl can get mixes quickly and easy they will for nothing...myself being a typical example... as I did exactly the same all those years ago when I dropped in and out to get the Moshic mixes... I left as quickly as I came!!

In that specific forum subtopic (self promotion?) they should not be allowed to post until they have a certain ratio, otherwise new users, or users with low ratios wont be able to post anywhere on the site because they would have rules imposed on them. If there are users with low ratio's that want to stick around and cant post, then what is the point of sticking around if the whole site is an unpleasant experience.
As a sorta active member of TM i know i should contribute more to this discussion, but between the three of you i think you guys are covering most of it. If I have something that is worth mentioning that was missed, i will throw it in.

Hello, I have read the new rules tribalmixes.com, I look good, and I, for some reason, have to be like, I will try every effort to strive to contribute to make it happen, I think this is good for the job team made it beneficial for all so large that we enjoy with the electronic music community in all its variations. I repeat, will try to push myself, I will not rest on my laurels, I'll learn several things that have outstanding, and if something does not know or feel how to do, I'll ask for help, thank you very much slash (and the entire staff of tribalmixes) throughout work which is reflected in the changes of page

The new rules will make this site more quality oriented and not quantity oriented.
I have a warning now that I don't have enough forum posts and comments to keep my power user status. So I posted some of both and the number has not changed? Does it refresh once a day?
make love to the canvas
not got a problem with the new rules :)

You don't have a warning, just need a few posts... Yes, those totals update just a few times a day. Cache... But when time comes - only the proper updated values will be considered' don't worry

Users who just smash the current mixes from latest shitty american festivals (insert any electro/trance dj-US crowd event)
Ratios adhered to with promotions, if you do not keep your ratio above a certain level, bye bye or contribute to the site in actual cash!!
These rules and many more work at mixingbowl, stellarwinds (supertorrents) so I think its high time as I have siad in the past to get rid of the freeloaders and make it a better community driven site!!!
