== ABOUT HELPING THE RATIO's ==, page 1

I though of opening this topic for suggesting something...

Since we are so few and the maximum number of snatches of a torrent is 20-30-50 no more than a hundred
and there are so many users that have bad ratio's because they didn't take the torrent the first to make a ratio I think we can introduce somethink cool to help everyone..

I suggest that for every HOUR of SEEDING a torrent we should get some seeding points. More torrents more seeding points. And at avery 100 points or some number established by the staff you should be able to buy something such as: 1GB of traffic to your account, 5GB of traffic, the right to write something between brachets instead of Power User things like this. What would you say?

this one will be good, but only for users with warnings and stopped downloading rights...It's not bad, lets see what thinks the others

i've seen such a solution on one of the hungarian torrent portals... not a bad idea, but who seeds regulary, doen't need this (who doesn't seed won't have seeder points). btw, my ratio is over 2.00 on that site, but somtimes i change my seeder points to gigabytes too :)

It's not a bad idea but I guess it won't change something

well, to be able to write something in the brackets - it needs to be programmed first. probably tomorrow i'm going to make it even without buying it. as for the whole idea, it sounds pretty nice. the only thing here it must be well balanced, that is why it needs to be thought through all the way. i don't have much time now, but i think a calculator will be needed here... a few qualities of this project should be mentioned:
  • should it be XX/hr for every torrent or just for the running client? for seeding or for leeching too?
  • user with warning at 1GB downloads seeding his 10-15 files 24/7, but not uploading anything on them, how long of this "empty seeding" do you think it should take him to remove that warning?
  • while it's a fair idea to implement such a feature, it will be unfair to see it being exploited. say someone uploads a torrent that goes dead after 1-2 days and noone ever snatches it, but there's another someone that just wanted it, and got it, and left it in his client for ALL 105 DAYS of a torrent's life. how many do you think of those points should we award to such a user?
  • users seeding everlife torrents, do they get points? same amount?
    .. and more...
  • also i've seen here a way for this idea of featured djs torrents to be free downloads. we could make special award for downloading specific torrents. and for e.g. featured dj torrents could have award equal to downloaded amount, so that users could go later and reimburse that award, but not uploaded credit, but downloaded decrease (to make ratio come back same).
  • also these awards could go post-factum, i mean, if some of the torrents you've snatched before are edited to give an award, you can redeem it, if snatched torrent before and your name is saved in the list of snatchers.
  • everlife torrents could have some little award, because not many people download those torrents
  • fresh torrents of up to 1-2 weeks old will not give anything for downloading them, but older torrents will give you some award to snatch them, to make them more active (about 900 dead now torrents could become active again)...

ps by the way, there's already something like that. and it's called "immortal rating", although it doesn't pay attn to seeding, it does pay attention to many other things you do (forums, comments, uploads, ratings etc - all give you points).

pps THIS IS TO EVERYONE, PLEASE JOIN THIS DISCUSSION!!!

He has a point, they do there best to help you.  By having forums and comments, they can montor the condition of the server.  By doing so they can correct the wrongs and make it a better server than it already is.  So, start helping them out and start to voice your opinion on things.  Also, your idea on the seeding problem is a good one, hopefully it can start correcting the problem soon.

Sorry, about my previous comment, I have no idea why I went about that.  Off topic bad , Sorry.  I just saw that you talked about the "immortal rating" and I felt that people dont comment enough and let you guys know what they are thinking about your ideas.

well, ok, i see.. but noone else for some reason wants to look in here, you know what i'm saying. if we had 10 posts already yealling YEAH WE WANT IT, than sure, i would do it, actually i'm thinking on it right now and making the system adjustments and stuff like that for immortal rating to become this kind of reputation points, that can be spent for upload credit or download debit, which will be about equal in depth of the meaning. say, users will be able to spend ONE of their immortal ratio points for 1MB of upload credit. some would have even that helped alot!!! or you could have your downloaded amount debited-decreased by, say, 2MB.

it will take a user to run torrent client with 10 torrent-seeds for 1 week non-stop seeding them (if without uploads at all whatsoever unlucky damn!!) to get, say, 20 points, combined with other ways to get immortal points, this user can accumulate, roughly double that 40 points in one week, giving possibility to increase uploads by 40MB or decrease downloads by 80MB. average warned user would be in situation like [Up:80MB Down: 1.1GB ratio:0.071], he can use them 40MB and be [UP:120MB, ratio:0.106] which removes warning and gives little action room. or he could use them 80MB and be [Down: 1.00, ratio 0.80 which is worse].

then another user with warning but 11.16GB UP, 27.62GB DOWN and ratio of 0.404 needs 0.420 to remove it and has 80 peers running day and night, no uploads whatsoever - gets needed 0.16 ratio growth in roughly 3 weeks of empty seeding. applying that towards downloads decrease would give a 0.418 ratio with less improvement. people with hundreds of torrents seeding will be getting up to 1000 points weekly for that.

please, read this throughly and tell me is that fair or not, maybe less or more credit/debit should be given. also here's the link to F.A.Q. part about immortality stuff and points awarded for what, which can and should also be discussed here as for changes/additions/exploits.

here is that they did in the site i've mentioned before:

in every hour, you seed at least by (sum) 10kb/sec , you get +1 bonus points, no matter what you seed (of course, your ratio will rise by seeding TOO). after reaching some levels, you can exchange your bonus points to upload:

  • 100p  -  +1G upload
  • 200p  -  +2,5G upload
  • 400p  -  +5G upload
  • 300p  -  +1 invitation

i will comment on the other things later, i have to go now :-\
