I suspect I'm being throttled, page 1

I used to get really good rates for uploading but latley it has been really screwy w/ few connections being made and sometimes the uploading just totally stops for no reason.  Anyone have any suggestion to figure out if my ISP is restrciting my speeds or if it is other problems?  It's just a weird problem that the u/l shoots up then dies, back and forth.  It's weird because it's recent too.  Never really had this problem before.  :\

try uploading a bigger file (100-200m) to an ftp server. if it is slow too, then you're limited or something eats up your bandwidth.  have you checked for viruses, spywares, rootkits?

The Azureus wiki has a list of some ISPs that throttle, maybe yours is on the list, check here:
https://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs

There's a guide here on how to avoid traffic shaping (for Azureus, BitComet and uTorrent):
https://torrentfreak.com/how-to-encrypt-bittorrent-traffic/

There's also a guide on the Azureus wiki here:

You might just need to change the port from the default one to a different one.

Or it might just be that your ISP is having trouble at the exchange or similar.

Thanks squirrel44, I followed some of the recommendations and turned on ecryption.  After that my u/l speed actually skyrocketed.  I still have a few peers I can't connect to (and it is frustrating especially when I'm seeding) but I do connect more often.  That helped a alot!

i am seeding from a server so this want have a router
i tried all 3 things in here. but this is my problem

i am seeding a few torrents at 1.5 MB/s and then my upload speed just drops.

after a few minutes it goes up. again then drops.

but if i change the port right after it drops seeding at 1.5 MB/s it will go right back up again.

i have encryption enabled and all. they say they have no firewalls and they dont shape their network.

or it just might be that the torrents i am seeding arnt doing that well

edit : i still haven't tried FTP
